So we were supposed to have this whole area paved today in asphalt. The guys didn’t show up. I’m upset and disappointed, and there will need to be some conversation as to why they didn’t show up.... but right now, I can’t resist a big patch of dirt and gravel and weeds. Not when I’ve got a freshly-charged battery pack...
(For the curious: it’s a 2014 Kyosho Scorpion re-release, running on
a vintage Kyosho
LeMans Stock 05
motor and a
2S lithium-polymer battery
... one of my favorite runners
.)

Very much into the neo-vintage Kyosho! I’ve got a few Tamiyas myself. Just can’t stop being a kid, I suppose...

Nice! Some of my favorite RC times were at a friend’s house during the time a multi-year construction project was happening near by (new housing development and road widening).
Both of us just recently started getting back into RC with our old cars, I need to write about that more!

My cousin had a Grasshopper. I bought an RC-10CE so we could have some fun bashing around. He was jealous of the performance, so he bought a modified motor (never mind the open diff and the friction shocks). That thing couldn’t hook up for anything, even on pavement. One wheel would start spinning and the whole car would end up doing nothing but donuts. The tire that was spinning would balloon up like a dragster’s tires. When he finally learned how to ease into the throttle, there was no catching it with my stock RC-10. But when it h it a bump, he would lose all control and end up flipping it. It was hilarious.

Yep, my first one was a Grasshopper, back in ‘86. Spent a whole summer mowing lawns and walking dogs to afford it.
Then the rich kid down the street bought an RC10. And then it was on....
34 years later, I have a couple dozen of the things still.

Yeah, I have a few Tamiyas too, and some
other Kyoshos
, and a couple RC10s. A lot of mine are ‘80s originals, so they pretty much just live on the shelf and look cool. But these re-issue ones, I have no problem bashing around.

I still have my RC-10. I also bought a Traxxas Rampage and Stampede for bashing around the yard. Then I went back to flying and the cars have seen just a few runs since the mid ‘90s.

That’s a really cool buggy!
I had a blast playing with my RC trucks this summer on the road bed under construction next to my house :)

Do! And I’ll do more RC-related posts as well, if people are interested.

The old RC10s are super rad. That’s awesome you’ve got a set of display originals and a bashing set. Well done!

I love the Kyosho re-re cars! Haven’t picked one up just yet, but want to really badly. I’m mostly into crawlers and rock racers but have kinda gotten into the basher scene this year.

Highly recommended. They really did a nice job bringing them back. I have this one, and a Turbo Optima, and they’re both awesome.
I’m into the scale side of the crawlers
as well, just starting to get into scratch-building my own bodies for them.
